ABOUT ME

Christopher Bowes is a freelance director/editor who has recently made the move to Montreal. With a strong background in post-production and on-set experience, it has taken Christopher little time to develop a roster of clients. He has developed continuing relationships with Radio-Canada (30 Vies), Boombox Group (RedBull) and Paper Chef while retaining work from his employer, TV2GO (GRC, ESPN).

“At TV2GO, I worked on improving their production standards, integrated a server based Final Cut environment and developed a strong staff. TV2GO’s productions are better than ever and despite my departure to Montreal, the processes that are in place keep that department running strong.”

In 2009, Christopher edited a documentary for the CTV Olympic Consortium (This Great Land: Canada welcomes the torch) where he helped tell the stories of the future torch bearers before they ran. The project ran in HD, in two languages and 6 networks. (CTV, TSN, RDS, OMNI, Sportsnet, V and TVA)

"I've always been a sports guy. Yeah, I was in theatre in high school and always had a sense for story telling and dramatics, but also I played AAA Baseball and Hockey. I was a competitive swimmer and even did a little aggressive in-line skating so sports is really at the core of who I am."

He's produced over 40 episodes for Canadian Rally Championship on TSN & RDS, as well as the Rally-America series in 2007 for ESPN. But most recently, Christopher has been working as Feature Director on ESPN's latest new series entitled, the Global RallyCross Championship.

"It is funny how things happen sometimes. When I left TV2GO, I really expected my work to move either into Dramatic productions or into corporate work but extreme sports or sports production in general seems to be something I've got a good handle on and the calls keep coming. And, to be honest, I'm not complaining. I'm now a fan and I feel blessed to share my interests with my work. The best part of this job is every day is different and I love the challenge of telling a great story whether it be the story of a great weekend at the track, or a company producing a great product."

He is also brand conscious having worked with corporate clients such as Toyota Canada, Holt Renfrew, Xbox and NetFlix. Before that, Christopher had stints in advertising (The Brand Factory) and in broadcasting with HGTV & CBC.

“I believe I have a sense of what is needed in post and how a story fits together as it unfolds. That kind of knowledge is useful when I'm shooting stories as they happen. Also, I believe I connect with clients and I bring a sense of confidence to a project. That’s what my client wants most: feeling that everything is under control… because it is and when they see the final product they'll feel good about having trusted me.”
